October 23, 2000 – AdWords launches with a total of 350 advertisers
Remember purely keyword search based paid search campaigns?
At one time Paid Search on Google was easy. As marketers, you figured out the keywords that best represented the website/document/video you were promoting. You put together some text ads and bought the words from Google. Presto! You have a targeted campaign. Sure you can add some negative keywords. If you really want to be more exact in terms of how the money is spent, then separate the keywords by match types into separate campaigns. But AdWords advertising is not all just about keywords and text ads.
